T.N.G. Projects - Social Architecture
During the Winter months of 2025 we have taken a substantial step in broadening the scope and scale of T.N.G. Projects. By invitation and subsequent negotiation T.N.G. Projects in collaboration with Boldklubben Stefan which is located in the North West district of Copenhagen have initiated a joint creative venture entitled `Social Architecture´. Since Galvin Harrison + T.N.G. Projects was founded in 2020 it has largely configured as an underground project. It has moved the workshop concept as a nomadic project between a series of locations until finding a permanent home at Samuelsgaarden in Nørrebro. The wish is for the project to become more visible and play a more active role in reshaping the conduct and teaching of the art of creativity. The project has specific moral intentions. It is focused as a matter of principle on the creative well being of the coming generation. The intention is to create a legacy of tangible creative evidence and motivate social participation.
The inaugural exhibition/installation located in the new project space at Boldklubben Stefan is a collective creative project that T.N.G. has been working on for two years. The installation consists of in excess of 100 pieces of sculpture entitled, `The Stockade Sculptures´. The sculptures as we perceive them are sculptures of necessity, made for these troubling times. They recall the time of childhood fortresses and defensive bulwarks spontaneously constructed with whatever materials there were to hand. As adult contemporary sculptures it was personally imperative that the sculptures emanated a visual scent, that they reeked of intimidation and violence. Again, the majority of materials that are used are of the found and scavenged variety that, by deliberate design further add to a sense of desperation and the need for staunch resilience in order to defend oneself, one's loved ones, territory and the moral principles that one stands for. They are sculptures that we hope visually function in resonating the qualities of a psychological defence, a mode of striving to survive in the face absurd odds and the inevitability of one's own demise. My personal wish was and is for the sculptures to provide clues that also reveal a code of optimism and a visual keynote for contemporary survival in a world of escalating violence and social contempt.
